Associate Attorney
Small, downtown Los Angeles boutique law firm is looking for an associate attorney with a demonstrated interest and/or experience in political, election, and nonprofit organization law, as well as a broader interest and/or experience in civil litigation.
Job Description:
The associate’s primary responsibilities will be in the areas of political and election law, including at least the following: researching and drafting memoranda regarding federal, state and local political and election law; assisting in the preparation and reviewing of campaign finance and lobbying reports; assisting with ethics enforcement actions and complaints; serving as legal counsel in ballot measure and independent expenditure campaigns; providing advice regarding campaign communications and all other legal compliance issues; and generally providing verbal and written advice to clients regarding the foregoing.
The associate will also have significant responsibilities in the area of nonprofit organization law, including preparing tax-exempt organization applications, tax returns, and providing advice regarding the structure of nonprofit organizations.
The associate will also assist with litigation in election and campaign matters.
Qualifications:
Zero to three years of relevant legal and/or prior professional experience; demonstrated interest in political and election law as well as nonprofit organizations; strong writing skills, flexibility, attention to detail; excellent academic credentials; law review or journal experience preferred.

Compliance Specialist
Small, downtown Los Angeles boutique law firm is looking for a Compliance Specialist to assist in the preparation of campaign and lobbying reports and maintain treasury services for clients engaged in the political arena.
Job Description:
The Compliance Specialist’s responsibilities include the following: performing data entry for campaign account activity, such as recording receipts and disbursements into accounting and reporting software; issuing disbursements via check and wire transfer; performing research pertaining to contribution limits and reviewing for compliance with applicable law; assisting with political action committee (PAC) filings; assisting with preparation of lobbying reports; preparing financial statements; and maintaining client files.
Preferred Qualifications:
Detail-oriented; well organized; strong time management skills; knowledge of basic accounting principles; familiarity with political campaigns; data entry skills; research skills; ability to work well in a team setting; familiarity with Microsoft Excel and/or campaign or accounting software programs; an interest in politics or civic engagement; perfect for a recent college graduate.
