Robert H. Burnham
Bob Burnham has specialized in municipal law since 1977. He served as a deputy district attorney in Mono County and worked for the City of Newport Beach as Assistant City Attorney, Acting City Attorney and City Attorney, a position he held for more than 20 years. During his tenure with Newport Beach, Bob’s practice emphasized environmental, land use and airport law. He advised both the Planning Commission and City Council.
Since his retirement as Newport Beach City Attorney, Bob was a consultant to the City in the areas of land use and aviation law. He provided legal assistance on a major general plan amendment and controls on John Wayne Airport. Additionally, since 2005, he has been a Legal and Project Consultant to the City of Laguna Beach. In that capacity, he manages projects related to disaster declarations, prepares agreements with victims and contractors and communicates with City staff and the City Council and external officials.
Bob received his B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles in 1966 and his J.D. from University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1969.
